A

Abuse complaint

An abuse complaint occurs when a MYC user clicks to “this is not ok” in the Map Your City App Menu or in the Organization Web Dashboard with the intent to report photos or comments.

Account notifications

General email updates about the account that are sent to the account owner. 

Admin (or Organization Owner)

User type with full access to all editable parts of the account and who can create new account users, edit billing information, and close the account. Owners are admins by default but they can add additional users as admins too.

API

Application programming interface. An API is a way for web programs to connect with one another using code instead of an interface in a browser.

Building

Type of Location that can be found, mapped, shared, connected to and filtered on in the MYC app.

C

Community

Also called an Organization. In Map Your City, everything happens in a community. A Map Your City community is simply a group of people mapping & promoting together – like your company, organization, city or town. The Owner administrator is by default the primary contact and administrator of an account who can invite and set permission levels for other users.

Custom Form

A Form customized using the Form Builder by the Owner of an Organization. A Custom Form (together with the Organization Profile) can be added to Locations - providing valuable info by the Organization about that specific Location and its relation to the Organization.

Custom Fields

Fields in the Organization Dashboard’s Form Builder, such as a dropdown, multi-select, number, single line text, paragraph text, year and weblink field. Dropdown fields let you “show the selection that exclusively matches one selected filter”. A multiselect field lets you “show the selections that match any of the filters” (selections are added). When using these different fields together the (multiselect) fields let you “show the selections that match all of the filters” (narrows your search).

CSV

File type for storing tabular data and a preferred file type when importing locations into Map Your City.

Downgrade

Changing your payment type from a paid plan back to the Forever Free plan or from a Enterprise Plan to an Essentials Plan.

E

Embed Code

The embed code "</> Embed" is a piece of html code of your Web map or of Map Your City locations that you can add to your website.

Embedded Map

Your custom map designed to be placed on any website.

Event Trigger

List information such as subscriber sign up date, a product purchase date, or even the subscriber’s birthday that is used to send an autoresponder to a subscriber.

F

Filter

A tool in the MYC app used to explore and display Locations based on Status, Type, or List.

Form Builder

The powerful MYC tool in the Organization Dashboard that enables you to build your Custom Form by using Custom Fields to add your information to Locations in the app, your Web map and on Location cards.

Forever Free

MYC’s basic free plan that allows you to use the MYC app and all its features. All users registering after downloading the app start on the Free membership plan.

G

Geolocation

The location and time zone determined for you by data that’s collected when you log on to the MYC app. This information is among others used for determining your location on the MYC Map.

Google Streetview Image

Image provided by Google Maps API and used when adding locations via the Web Dashboard.

I

ISP

An Internet Service Provider is a telephone or telecommunications company that provides Internet access to its customers.

Location list view

An alphabetical order view in the MYC app or Dashboard, such as a view of your favorite locations or locations your Organization is connected to.

M

Organization Member

User type with access to all editable parts of the Organization account in the app, but has no access to the Organization (Web) Dashboard.

Monthly Plan

A payment plan that charges once per month based on the the subscribed Membership Plan’s conditions. Monthly plans offer more features than in Forever Free accounts.

O

OAuth2

An authorization method used when you log in to Map Your City from other accounts like Facebook. It enhances security and usability by allowing two services to connect without having to provide your credentials again.

Outdoor Space

Type of Location that can be found, mapped, shared, connected to, filtered on in the MYC app and embedded on any website.

Organization

An Organization - also called community that maps and promotes places together. In Map Your City, everything happens in a community. A Map Your City community is simply a group of people mapping & promoting together – like your company, organization, city or town. The Owner administrator is by default the primary contact and administrator of an account who can invite and set permission levels for other users.

Organization Dashboard

The powerful online web portal that is directly connected to the MYC app and allows Owners to customize their Organization Profile, manage Locations, build a Custom Form, build a custom Web map, manage their account users, send notifications and shows business insights.

Organization Owner

User type with full access to all editable parts of the account and who can create new account users, edit billing information, and close the account. Owners are admins by default but they can add additional users as admins too

Organization Profile

The profile of an Organization that shows in the MYC app and can be customized in the Organization Dashboard, with the account owner’s information. The Organization Profile (together with the Custom Form) can be connected to Locations to add valuable business (contact) information.

P

Pay off

A short description in the Organization Profile. A Pay-off or a tagline is a short phrase that strengthens your community’s identity or brand.

Places

Places are a type of Location such as Buildings - as opposed to Outdoor Spaces. As any Location, Places can be found, mapped, shared, connected to, filtered on, and embedded on any website.

Premium Plan

A payment plan designed for mapping with multiple users and predefined number of Locations. Recurring charges are billed monthly or yearly, depending on the user’s subscribed to membership conditions. 

Profile & Header Image

Picture of you or (logo of) your Organization and an image to show on top of your Organization Profile.

S

Social Share

A feature available in the MYC app and the Organization Dashboard for Locations which displays the Location image and/ or the Location Public Profile information to share on Facebook, Twitter, through e-mail or copying a link.

U

Upgrade

Changing your payment type from a Forever Free plan to a paid plan or from an Essentials Plan to a Enterprise Plan.

User Agent

Information that indicates which browser, OS, or email client is used by the subscriber.

User Type

Permission level assigned to different account users. There are three user types in Map Your City: Owner, Member and User.

W

Web Map

Your custom map designed to be placed on any website.

WYSIWYG

An acronym for “what you see is what you get” that refers to text and image editors, that allow you to see what your final product will look like as you are creating it. Map Your City’s drag and drop Form Builder is a WYSIWIG editor.

Z

ZIP File

A file format multiple files or folders that supports lossless data compression.
