6. The MYC app is not showing my current location, I keep ending up in Amsterdam?
It is important that you have your location (gps) services enabled on your phone, and have granted the MYC app access to use those services. If these are not turned on, you end up in beautiful Amsterdam. Just our way of telling you to either travel to Amsterdam or enable your gps ; )
Newer Android versions (as from Android 6.0), will ask you to grant permissions to apps while the app is running, not when you install the app. This approach streamlines the app install process, since you do not need to grant permissions when you install or update the app. It also gives you more control over the app’s functionality; for example, you could choose to give a camera app access to the camera but not to the device location. You can revoke the permissions at any time, by going to the app’s Settings screen.
7. How do I use 3D, tilt and rotate on the MYC mobile map?
Both Android and iOS releases work with the native maps supplied by the operating system on your mobile. Which means if you are using an Android device Google maps are used. On an iPhone or iPad Apple maps are used. Both however work similar in this respect:
- Pinch to zoom lets you zoom in and out on a map.
- Two-finger rotate turns the Map window and offers a 360-degree view.
- Two-finger drag tilts the Map window and shows you 3D and Flyover views
8. How do I make a screenshot to add to my in-app help form?
On the vast majority of Android phones and tablets, to take a screenshot you simply press and hold the power and volume-down buttons together. If your device has a physical home button, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy S6, you may find there is a different method for taking a screenshot. On the Galaxy S6 you press and hold the power and home buttons together.
Using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then immediately press and release the Home button. You can find the screenshot in your Photos app.
9. I am not receiving notifications
Make sure you have confirmed the email address you registered to login to Map Your City.
10. On my iPhone or iPad the edit screen does not close
After editing a location and pressing the Save button the Edit screen of the Location does not close on an iPhone or iPad. Make sure you have the latest iOS software updates installed.
This known issue occurs when the iOS software is not up to date, your edits are saved however, and you can leave the screen pressing the "X".
